Safe Spaces

All students are entitled to have a safe and welcoming learning environment regardless of their race, religious beliefs, colour, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical characteristics, disability, family status, ancestry, place of origin, socioeconomic background or linguistic background.

Government has enacted legislation that supports the inclusive nature of public education and combats safety issues such as discrimination, homophobia, violence, bullying and cyber-bullying. But some of the solutions remain controversial and some schools are not complying with the legislation.
